Pitch a story.
Fight for a byline.

The Union Edge is an independent labor-journalism outlet. Our readers are organizers, stewards, labor-side lawyers, and rank-and-file members who rely on us for reported coverage of the fights that shape American work. We’re open to contributions from people who live these stories or study them for a living — not generalists, not marketers, not anyone chasing a content brief. If you’ve got a reported piece on a campaign, a ruling, a contract fight, or a workplace-safety failure, we want to read it.

How to pitch

If you’re looking to write for us on labor issues, here’s what we need on first contact:

  1. 1.A one-paragraph pitch— what’s the story, why now, and what primary sources you’ve already got or can get
  2. 2.A 2–3 sentence bio— who you are, what your stake in the story is, links to prior work if you’ve got them
  3. 3.No full drafts on first contact. We’d rather talk angle before you put the hours in

We review within five business days. If we’re interested we’ll either ask for the full draft or propose a revised angle that fits our readership. If the story isn’t right for us, we’ll say so plainly so you can place it elsewhere.
